Welcome to the heart of nature!

Fekete  Kutya

guesthouse

comfort, tradition, holidays

Introduction

Our guesthouse has opened in January 2020 in the Keszthely Mountains, halfway between Keszthely-Hévíz-Sümeg, 19 km from Lake Balaton, at the western tip of the Balaton Uplands National Park, in Vindornyalak with 76 inhabitants. Its name (Fekete Kutya means Black Dog) was inspired by our dogs, Fuego and Nabu, the two adopted, one and a half and three years old (January 2020), black mixed breed neutered males, whom we love as family members. Our guesthouse is dog friendly.

We are Hungarian and French people who came from urban life to realize and have that surroundings what we could imaging as a perfect. We enjoy magical and inspirational nature, animals and country-side people near us, we have all comforts, energy comes from the "zen vibe" stupa, we can meditate and create, art smells in the air.

We encourage all countryside-rustic lovers, trippers-trekkers-hikers, bikers, zen-tranquility seekers, transit travelers, art lovers, pilgrims, animal admirers and anyone who is friendly to stay at our place, but those, who would like only chatting next to a cup of coffee or tea, are also welcome.

We welcome our guests with a hospitality of a family ambiance.

The first picture shows our family house, the main building (the guest house is just behind it, in the middle of the garden), the other picture shows Fuego (red harness) and Nabu (blue harness).

Surroundings

The guest house is located in a valley of the Keszthely Mountains. The area is one of the most widespread and popular areas of Hungarian tourism, with tourist attractions, entertainment and resorts within 25 km in all directions, including hiking trails, wildlife, thermal baths, Balaton shore (beaches), medieval castles, adventure parks, Buddhist stupa and meditation center, yoga, horseback riding, golf courses and local wines.(read more on the Sights – Activities page).

The guesthouse

When we renovated our chic farmhouse, we thought of saving and 'reusing' also the basalt stone barn. This is how the Hungarian-French family business, the Black Dog accommodation, was established. The building is located behind the main house.

We have been mindful of ensuring that our guests have a comfortable stay while retaining traditional elements. We left the stone wall uncovered inside and reinforced the roof structure with a new peasant ceiling, seen inside. New sewer system, tubes, tiles, cables, furniture, equipment, machines... only some of the furniture and the hundred years old wooden floor saved from the main house are ancients for giving rustic feelings, ambiance.

The Garden

The guest house is so new that there is still a few things to do in the garden, but it is developing nicely. In the half-hectare area you will find a terrace and the table tennis installation (between 10th April and 15th October). The old well needs to be renovated, the big basalt stones have to be used, we want to plant more fruit trees and a roof will cover the terrace. There is a third building in the garden, a barn, in which we can imagine to install in the future a café – fruit juice cocktail bar or a painting and art creation workshop. Since there is more work to do in the yard, we thought this should be reflected in a fair starting price.

Unique use

The house is entirely for the guests. The house has a separate terrace, which is also used by the guests alone. The garden is shared with the owner.

Pets

The place is pets friendly and there is no extra fee for that.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that all guest pets will be friendly to our dogs (and vice versa). In this case, we are sure to find a way to avoid this problem, for example, by not letting our dogs out at the same time.

In Keszthely, a new dog beach is waiting for you on the Balaton shore of South Keszthely, including agility playground and picnic area. You can find more informations here: degbeachkeszthely.business.site.

Interaction with owner

The building is located behind our house (owner), where we live, so in case of requests or any problem, we can react quickly.

We are open minded, friendly people who enjoy communicating with their guests. At the same time, we leave space and peace for them.

Dining options

The guest house has no food service. The guesthouse's kitchen is well equipped and we offer a few basic things to start with: salt, sugar, oil, coffee, tea.

It is possible to order food from Turul restaurant in Zalaszántó, ask us for the menu!

Turul restaurant is 4 km from door to door, dogfriendly.

Other restaurants that are our favorites:

Szt. Domonkos restaurant, Várvölgy (9,2 km)

Gyöngyösi Betyárcsárda, Rezi (9,7 km) - open from April to November

Vadaskert Csárda, Keszthely-Kertváros (15,3 km) - wild game, dogfriendly

Várcsárda, Sümeg (16 km) - closed between 6th January and 15th March 2020 because of renovation

Visitors find several restaurants in Sümeg (14 km), Hévíz (14 km) and Keszthely (17 km).

Transport

You can get to Keszthely by train and bus or you can take the bus to Hévíz and Sumeg. From those cities there is a regular bus service between Keszthely-Hévíz-Sümeg and Vindornyalak (the village). Warning: it is less frequent on weekends.

Possible transfers from Keszthely Train and Bus Station, Heviz Bus Station, FlyBalaton International Airport, and possibly Vienna and Budapest International airports, subject to availability, number of people and luggage size, subject to prior arrangement.

If you don't have a car, we recommend renting a car (in Budapest or Keszthely), so you can take a tour of the area's sights and attractions :
